HE was one of the main cogs in the 1985 Chicago Bears machine that led to a Super Bowl victory and established that team as one of the best in National Football League history. Otis Wilson, the All-Pro outside linebacker who was part of the entertaining and groundbreaking “Super Bowl Shuffle,” gives readers a behind-the-scenes look at all that went into that special season in his book, If These Walls Could Talk: Chicago Bears: Stories from the Chicago Bears Sideline, Locker Room, and Press Box. “Mama’s Boy Otis,” who shared that season with personalities such as Walter Payton, Jim McMahon and William “Refrigerator” Perry, will be front and center at a book-signing event on December 15 at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville.

Gobsmacked! The A Cappela and Beatboxing Show
AVERY SUNSHINE, who has become a favorite at City Winery, returns to the venue on December 21 for two shows at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Known for songs such as “Call My Name” and “Ugly Part of Me,” the entertainer––influenced by figures such as Gladys Knight, Nina Simone, B.B. King, The Clark Sisters, James Brown–– brings her dynamic voice to Chicago to exhibit the incredible talent that has thrust her to the top of the music world and has followers talking about her new CD Twenty Sixty Four. As she says: "Our mission is simple––to inspire and encourage people to pursue
whatever their life calling is and to operate at the highest level of
themselves through that calling.” She continues that mission at City Winery.
THE holiday revue “Merry, Merry Chicago” returns to the Chicago Symphony Center on December 15 and features members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the internationally known, 160-member Chicago Children’s Choir and Broadway star Ashley Brown, who originated the role of Mary Poppins on Broadway, sang Belle in Beauty and the Beast, and was a favorite in her “Merry, Merry Chicago” debut last year. The festive concert will include selections from The Nutcracker, The Polar Express and feature many of the treasured Christmas carols that have shaped the holiday season for generations. After the opening show, subsequent concerts will be held on December 16, 17, 22 and 23. Attendees can enjoy pre-concert holiday music from community ensembles 45 minutes before each concert and during intermissions. For tickets and information, go to www.cso.org.
