A Taste of Things to Come continues at Broadway Playhouse through April 29.

Popular artist Raymond A. Thomas, a former creative manager at EBONY magazine, is one of the featured artists whose work is highlighted in the exhibition Hero•ism at Gallery Guichard, 436 E. 47th Street. The exhibit, which also features the works of Roger Carter and Maxwell Emcays, honors individuals and communities who have shown "a devotion to truth" and "the courage to stand and fight." Thomas says: "We just wanted to do something that represents heroism during these times. When we think about these times, it's time for heroes. It's time for us to stand up." The thought-provoking exhibit, co-curated by Thomas and Andre Guichard, runs through May 13.
The Writers Theatre production of Smart People continues through June 10.
The Chicago West Community Music Center (CWCMC) Orchestra will perform a wide-ranging repertoire as part of the After-School Matters program on May 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Constellation, 3111 North Western Avenue. Tickets are $12 and $15. The group performed in Paris and Shanghai last year and has been invited to perform in the 2018 Shanghai Summer Music Festival.
