In preparation for the opening of Rapture, Blister, Burn at the Goodman Theatre, (left to right) director Kimberly Senior and cast members Robin Weigert and Mark L. Montgomery discuss the script during rehearsal. The play, written by Gina Gionfriddo and scheduled to run from January 17 through February 22, focuses on two graduate school friends who chose to pursue different objectives. One, who dropped out of graduate school, is a stay-at-home mom who is still searching for domestic perfection, and the other is an unmarried, all-about-business individual who is consumed by her enviable career choice. After a 10-year estrangement, the 40-something friends come back together to spend a summer reconnecting, which prompts them to examine their current lives in an effort to determine which approach or direction is best for today's woman. The highly anticipated production, 50 Shades! The Musical Parody, which has sold-out audiences across the country singing its praises, comes to the Broadway Playhouse for a short run from January 13 through January 18. The show is a comedic and sexy takeoff of the steamy book Fifty Shades of Grey.
In Pericles, running through January 18 at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, the focus is on perhaps the most prominent and influential Greek statesman, orator and general of Athens during the Golden Age.
Comedian and actor Sinbad brings his signature brand of humor to the Chicago Theater on Valentine's Day, February 14.
Award-winning actor Jeff Daniels displays his musical talent when he joins The Ben Daniels Band at City Winery for a show on January 29.
